ENKORE

Project information

  • Full title: Propelling the shift toward the future of circular, safe and sustainable packaging and single use device ecoDesigned solutions through healthcare environments
  • Duration: 48 months (January 2025 – December 2028)
  • Status: ongoing
  • Funding programme: the project is a HORIZON JU Research and Innovation Action co-funded by the European Union, under HORIZON-JU-IHI-2023-04-two-stage.

What will the project do?

The ENKORE project tackles challenges in applying circular economy principles in healthcare, focusing on safe, eco-friendly medical devices and packaging. By integrating circularity at the design stage, ENKORE’s goal is to reduce environmental impact, cut carbon emissions, and maximise resource efficiency.

What are the expected outcomes?

  • Validating the ecoDesign framework for medical devices and packaging.
  • Providing practical tools for assessing environmental and social.
  • Creating quantifiable evidence for policymakers to revise standards and regulations.
  • Improving circularity in healthcare, reducing environmental and carbon footprints.
  • Enhancing resource efficiency while maintaining safety and compliance.

What is EPFs role?

EPF will activate the patient community and will hold a central role in communicating and disseminating project results to a wider audience to promote awareness among citizens and patients' communities, and to maximise the impact of the overall activities of the READI project.
