New Synergy under EPF Roof
Digestive Cancers Europe (DiCE) and the European Liver Patients Association (ELPA) – both members of EPF - have signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The agreement represents a formidable and active patient advocacy partnership that allows the two organisations to join their efforts behind bettering the outcomes and quality of life of patients across Europe.
The two organisations are working hand-in-hand focusing their joint projects on the following three key areas: raising awareness on prevention, early detection, proper treatment, and rehabilitation; bringing liver cancer on the political radar and agenda; providing cancer experts and peer-to-peer patient support.
“Our organisations have similar and complementary goals of contributing to early diagnosis, advocating best practices in public health and treatment, improving the quality of life for patients, and saving lives from liver cancer,” says Stefan Gijssels, DiCE Chief Executive Officer. “This agreement allows us to be a stronger force for liver cancer patient advocacy and support projects in working towards these common goals.”
“Indeed, as two European umbrella patient organisations, ELPA and DiCE can now work together pulling on the strength of our 60 plus collective Member organisations,” reflects Marko Korenjak, ELPA President. “Together we can also encouraging local member groups of both organisations to start developing patient support for liver cancer patients and carers throughout their journey.”
The first step of this new collaboration is the October DiCE Masterclass Series Webinar: 'Deep Dive into Liver Cancer'. A joint event with ELPA in the framework of the Liver Cancer Awareness Month dedicated to the members of both associations.
