A patient course to understand clinical research in cancer

The European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) is organising a patient course entitled “Understanding Clinical Research in Cancer". This initiative is in the framework of the EUPATI project, the European Patients' Academy on Therapeutic Innovation.

We encourage patient advocates to get involved in this excellent opportunity to learn more about cancer biology; personalised cancer treatment and care; the organisation of clinical research; and very importantly, how patient groups can become more involved in the design and implementation of clinical trials. .

The goal of this course is to provide cancer patient advocates with a stimulating and challenging two-day training experience leading to a much greater understanding of the whole clinical trials process.

When and where?

Registrations are open until 14 February.

This course will take place on 28 February and 1 March 2014, at EORTC Headquarters, 83 avenue E. Mounier, 1200 Brussels, Belgium.

Who should attend this course?

This course is designed specifically for European patient group leaders with approximately three years’ experience in cancer patient advocacy/patient support/patient information provision.

Participation in this course will enable cancer patient advocates to learn more about cancer biology; personalized cancer treatment and care; the organisation of clinical research; and very importantly, how patient groups can become more involved in the design and implementation of clinical trials.

Participants should have good English skills.

A networking dinner on Friday 28 February will also be included.
