CHRODIS+ project: EPF ensures the patient perspective in implementation pilot activities
In March 2019, EPF began to attend the study visits envisaged in CHRODIS+ Project work package 7. The objective of this work package is to foster high-quality care for people with chronic diseases by implementing the Quality Criteria and Recommendations Tool (QCR tool), defined in the previous Joint Action (JA) CHRODIS. The QCR tool is a practical analytical framework that can be used by decision-makers, healthcare personnel, and patients to support the implementation of good practices. It is used to improve, monitor, and evaluate the quality of chronic disease prevention and care in Europe and beyond.
In March and April 2019, EPF will be visiting five European countries: Slovenia, Finland, Croatia, Serbia and Greece. For each study visit, EPF will make sure that the patient perspective is in place and deeply embedded in the pilot sites’ activities, closely observe the progress of the pilots, and work intensively with CHRODIS + project partners to achieve the objectives of work package 7. In May, once all the study visits are over, EPF will produce a final report, sharing lessons learnt and good practices.
Furthermore in late February, EPF Policy Adviser Katie Gallagher attended a joint workshop on work package 6 (focused on the multimorbidity care model developed in previous JA CHRODIS 2014-2017) and work package 8 (dedicated to chronic diseases and employment) in Rome, Italy. The objective of the workshop was to identify and build on synergies between the activities carried out in the two work packages. She gave a brief interview and spoke of what the benefits of continued employment for people with chronic diseases are, and why patients should be supported to return and/or stay at work.
