Cross-Border Healthcare – EPF presentation at DG SANTE meeting

On the basis of the work EPF has done on cross border healthcare through its regional seminars since 2013, we were invited to contribute to a meeting of the Cross-border Healthcare Expert Group of the European commission (DG Sante) on the 11th of March.
This meeting gave the opportunity for EPF to highlight issues around information and the role of national contact points (NCPs). We believe objective performance criteria and operating principles as well as guidance for NCPs are needed from the patient point of view to ensure that NCPs deliver a consistent and good service to patients across the EU. These should be developed in collaboration with patient organisations. The EPF “checklist” could usefully serve as a starting point.
