EPF present at the WHO Regional Committee for Europe
The World Health Organisation (WHO) 65th Regional Committee for Europe took place on 14– 17 September in Vilnius. Health ministers and high-level representatives took part in this session to discuss key health issues at Pan European level.
Nicola Bedlington, EPF Secretary General was present at this session representing EPF. In a technical briefing, she presented our perspective on making progress towards a sustainable health workforce in the WHO Europe Region.
She also had the opportunity to present an EPF statement during a major session on priorities for health systems strengthening in the WHO Europe Region 2015-2020. At the end of the session, called “Walking the talk on patient centredness” an important Resolution was adopted. The resolution calls on Member States to promote transparency and accountability for people-centred health systems strengthening and to ensure equitable access to services and interventions, including cost-effective medicines and technologies for all patients in the EU.
EPF will continue to work closely with WHO Europe on this topic and will share more news in future issues.
The meeting was a key opportunity to deepen EPF‘s cooperation with our sister organisation at global level, the International Alliance of Patient Organizations (IAPO).
